Welcome to Joanna Wakefield Jewellery
'Joanna Wakefield Jewellery' is a design-led and carefully curated collection of textiles and haberdashery inspired jewellery. This established brand started humbly with a vintage button from my Grandmas collection more that 15 years years ago.
This special and niche theme stemmed from both my family history and my study, as well as a love for the vintage objects that support the designs, and much of the collection is Hallmarked and Copyright to preserve its unique nature.
My designs are carefully considered and I endeavour to create pieces that evoke memories and nostalgia and bring joy to the peruser and wearer. Consequently, the jewellery appeals far wider than the sewer or crafter.
I use sterling silver and gold, and practice traditional jewellery techniques to make my jewellery.
Biography
My original training culminated in a Degree in Design, specialising in Textiles which was no surprise having grown up in a family environment of 3 generations of needlewomen. My degree took me into work as a Fair Trade designer, travelling around the world developing and supporting traditional handicrafts with artisans. I was particulary interested in the areas of jewellery and textiles, and the historical and tradtitional techniques behind these skill sets.
After more than 10 years I really wanted to develop as an artist myself. I could no longer ignore my personal desire to extend and develop further creatively and so I retrained at York School of Jewellery as a designer jeweller.
From the fascination that grew from admiring my Grandma's talents and fond memories of sorting through her button stash Joanna Wakefield Jewellery has grown beautifully and continues to be influenced by my family history, my education, my time as a designer and my day to day musings.
Joanna Wakefield Jewellery is a member of ACID (Anti Copying in Design).

I've had successful exhibiting shows over the years at Art&, LNCCF & GNCCF, Crafted by Hand, Saltaire Makers' Fair and The Hepworth Wakefield Markets. As well as The Knitting & Stitching Shows. And I have exhibited regularly for an amazing decade at York's Annual Arts Festival, York Open Studios, from my studio.
See the Events page for my upcoming shows and also the Exhibitions & Stockists page for where you may currently find selections of my work.
Much of my jewellery is hallmarked at the Sheffield Assay Office.
