Summer Solstice 108 Sun Salutations yoga workshop Thursday 20th June 6.15 - 7.45pm At The Mount School York playing field £9 Includes 1.5 hour session plus refreshment Come, join and together we will Salute the Sun on the longest day of the year! This practice will take place at The Mount School York on their secluded playing field off Love Lane. In the event of a downpour we can go indoors. There is free parking and you can bring your bikes into the venue. It will be a highly satisfying and uplifting experience. Sun Salutations build heat, warming the body & creating an upward flow of energy through the body, known as Prana, a lifeforce. The practice will express your gratitude and devotion to yoga. 108 is a significant number in yoga and astrology (see some examples below) and performing this practice on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, also symbolises letting go of the old and welcoming the abundance of light and energy into our lives. The sun salutations will be practiced in 4 sections. With a vinyasa warm up and 'sun options' to begin, the breaks are a chance to rest or play and there will be a homemade snack and refreshment to end. There is no right or wrong way to practice 108 Sun Salutations. In fact, even if you don’t do 108, your breath and body will still benefit from the practice that you do. We will go through options of how to take them and at the end of the day, it’s not just about practicing 108 Sun Salutations, it’s about expressing gratitude to everything around you, your life, your growth. Plus you’ll gain physical and mental strength to power you through! Because if you can do 108, you can do anything.
